We just got back from the 7862k's trip up north and had a great time BUT ...
At Caravan Parks where they allow pets and we stayed at 5 a few bad caravaners are letting there designer pooches crap and pi$$ where the tents are set up. At one CP we picked up two plastic shopping bags worth before we felt like we could set up in an area that was clean.
SORRY, dog crap can carry some very bad parasites and I don't care how careful the person is picking it up (when they do) there will be residual.
Except for us old farts who were in the tent most of the campers/CT's had young children than ran around the grassy areas, given it was winter all had footwear but when the weather warms up ...
Anyway, all the operators where very good at making sure pets were leashed and folks actually had dog doo bags but they don't have eyes on the grass sites all day. There were some pretty flagrant folks out there, but one ruins it for others. One owner has seriously considered no pets before we talked and saw what we picked up, don't what he'll end up doing.
So for kids or anyone for that matter, is thinking about running around a grassy area in a CP without footwear please reconsider.
