Hi all I was wondering how often do you have to clean the beads on your tyres out. I'm asking this because every time I have been offroad I always had at least one tyre that got mud or rocks in the beads. It's becoming a pain in the butt and hassle.

edit: i run coopers st maxx and around 25psi

What type of tyres and how much pressure do you run?

I have had the same problem with mine, I've been running 20psi on most trips.
I have run 18psi once which was suggested which left me with a lot of debris in the beads too.

Yea I'm much the Same I run between 18- 25 depending on where I'm driving and it will happen more if driving in muddy rutted tracks, the only sure fire way to avoid it is beadlocks unfortunately, internal or external. I only clean them out if I get a slow leak.

I was like that before I got my km2s, since then, have not had 1 bead issue. I usually run around at about 20-25 while off road.

I was wondering if it was the tyre but mick has km2 like you and I'm running mtz ATM.

I had Micky t atz's before and they were horrible. Every time I went off road, it was numerous dirty beads, tyre balances out, and a couple of punctures. I believe (no idea if it's true) that the more a tyre is taken of the rim, the bead stretches and doesn't seal as well. Until last week I had not had my km2s off the rim for any reason since fitting.

I think it also helps that that my km2s are bigger too, I've got 305s on a 8" rim, so they are snug. Steve has the same so it would be good to here from him.

Wombat has a good reputation of those little white pebbles getting into beads.

I think it also depends on how hard you hit the ruts with the steering turned which will flex the bead off and filling it with mud.

I run 20 psi in my tyres and only needed to clean out the bead on one tyre after I slammed the car into a rut and a bank trying to climb a hill

A mate in an 80 series was for ever popping tyres off rims when we went 4x4ing .
we all sat down and figured it was his driving style as no one else had the problem.
same rims/tyres combo, some even ran as low as 16 psi with no problems.
After altering his driving style PRESTO no more tyres popping off rims
You can get bad habits when off road driving

TD i'm sure that's true and driving style would contribute to mud in the beads a little but i think mostly its just luck and tyre/rim setup
