Hi, I found this info on the Nissan web site http://www.nissan.com.au/Owners/Owner-Information/FAQs

"Nissan vehicles manufactured before 1 January 2004 are capable of operating on ethanol-blended ULP,
although Nissan does NOT recommend using ethanol-blended fuel in these vehicles".

I left an e mail asking Nissan why? Nissan was kind enough to call me back in regard to this issue.
The fella said that Nissan could not recommend using E10 as Nissan did not know what harm it might cause to the fuel system or engine.

Neil.

They are always measuring water in the e10 tanks, it causes more harm than good, not just in engines!

E10 is horrible all my cars that have tried it were low on power and used more fuel so the cheaper price is wasted. The 98 octane premium fuels work out cheaper in the long run IMHO

Spot on the money there. Another govt initiative gone wrong!

The ethanol component of E10 absorbs moisture.
That's why there is condensation in tanks that hold E10.
Petrol will not mix with water or promote condensation in tanks that are used to store it.
