G'day I'm encountering dodgy rattling noises while idling and it disappears when I step on the clutch pedal what do you guys reckon that is?

Yeah sounds like a thrust bearing. Might last a while but when you do go to fix it may as well do the clutch also

Which bearing? The release bearing?

It's fairly normal mate. I put a new heavy duty 4 terrain kit in my GU and around 3 months later the same rattle came back. It's just the release bearing and carrier rattling on the dry nose cone on the gear box. Mines noisy as hell but it was like this before. Probably because I didn't change the release bearing carrier when I did the clutch. No biggie though. Just annoying really.
