Just talked to a mate that can get me heaps of 16mm water resistant ply for free. So going to start the rear draws this week. Going to incorporate all electrics, compressor etc into it.

Anything I should look out for or any hints or tips? It's for a GU 2013 wagon

Cheers
Tony

Good luck Tony, are you going to use proper slides? Have fun

There is plenty of build threads on this subject, so if you do a search you will find heaps of tips.

16mm is a lot of dead weight.
Cannot pick up 12mm..
Your spanning 600mm, so you could easily hold a party on 12mm

Decided on 800mm long. I looked at the 12mm but seems flimsy. Also getting the ply for free, so it's a deal breaker :)
Going to make a few and see which one I like the most. I pinched Cnut idea with the power panel and design.

Check out UES for the drawer slides and latches cheaper than ebay and better quality imo

12mm is plenty thick enough. I would build with 12mm and use a 15mm top and drawer bottoms only.

I like the electric panel. Who's build is that from? Make sure you set it back far enough that you can plug stuff in and still close the door or you will smash stuff in the first day ;)

Line the inside of the drawers with carpet will help keep the load quiet.

I have "Outback" drawers and part of the install instructions include drilling out one anchor nut and fitting a bolt, plates and washers. Its an ADR thing.

Ok, done all the measurements etc. worked out all the electrical runs. Is there a 2013 GU manual around that can help me pull apart the insides/outside of the wagon?

I do have a good idea but nothing beats a pre-read than having to go get spare parts because you lost it and thought all that was needed was a bit of force and you end up just ripping the f**king thing off :)

hey mate, you have to make it to 25 posts to access the manuals. its not too hard to remove the boot wall things, they are just clipped in and screwed down
