Ive owned my 1999 2.8 patrol for a few months now, and I'm I'm just after a few people's opinions on upgrading the low end power because it seems a bit sluggish down low. is it best to boost the engine or are there other ways of going about it without spending a lot of money? the engine is currently stock apart form a 3 inch straight through exhaust with no muffler, and the car currently has a new set of 265/75 maxxis bighorns.
thanks.

I gather you would like low down power, which means your revs need to be in the rough range of 1700rpm and upwards so the turbo is on boost. Power that is useful in low range.

As opposed to throw you back in the seat as the light goes green.

The first way (for low range) is easiest by reduction gears.

The second way is best achieved with another engine. it not a 2.8, not a 3L,and not a 4.2.

If you change turbos for lower boost, you will run out of puff at the higher speeds.
