Disconnect the Battery, remove the tail lights so you can see in side and go for your life. Give it a wipe down with degreaser if your keen but it should be fine mate.

Cardboard.. Great idea... :-o

I'm kidding by the way. Don't take a burnable product to the tank.
Grab so sheet metal and place it between area being welded and the tank..

My gas tank was empty so I dropped it out

I welded the underneath of the body but couldn't sit under the car and weld aswell as wear a mask
so I took the mask off and found that I was squinting for the next three days and looked like a stoner with the bloodshot eyes all glased and squinty

in short always wear a welding helmet. And safety glasses when grinding haha

after welding without a welding helmet he's probably blind and no longer able to operate a key board . IMO , very stupid.

Some people just should be allowed near tools.

Once while I was welding a floor pan repair panel into an old car I got too close with the rod when checking to see where I needed to weld next whilst the welding visor was up, was only a momentary flash, but bugger me it was bright! I had a flare in my vision for about 4 days. I can't imagine how bad that must have been actually welding for any length of time!
