hello, my name is Jay, l'm new to the site, l have recently bought a GU 1999 2.8 to tow our caravan , l know its not fast but its comfortable and reliable, l have just done the suspension , 3" exhaust inc turbo dump, blocked EGR off and took butterfly out of intercooler, have joined this site to find out a bit more about the motor. l want to do the glow plugs and fit a new sump gasket. Thanks

I hope you enjoy your Patrol and the forum too

The three most common problems with the 2.8 seem to be harmonic balancers, worn injector pumps, and head gaskets...

Get your mechanic to check the harmonic balancer, as there has been a few fall apart or flog out the keyway......better to check now and make sure as it may save money down the track
