Members who have not been along before here is your chance to meet some very good people and to show your face.

I'd like to reiterate this point to anybody new considering coming. As I've only just recently met these guys also don't be scared they really are a good bunch of blokes.. So put your name down and come meet some of the clowns

Admittedly I had my misgivings and fair enough when you meet people off the internet but thankfully none turned out to be axe murderers or anything fishy

I also think it might be a good to set up a poll if at all poss to get numbers that are coming for just the sat or sun and those that will be staying over night and for dinner to work out some sort of head count for the food. Maybe add in a plus 1 or 2 for the dinner. Might also be a good idea if the maybe's can confirm by the weekend of the 5th so it makes it easier ordering the meat.

I'll be coming from Bendigo, so are you guys going to meet at Matfews first then go for a morning drive or are you doing a drive from Melb through the scrub to Matfews? Or potentially meeting in Bacchus before venturing into the wilderness?

You need to speak a little louder mate. These guys are deaf. I would assume they will be leaving from Matthews place.

I would have updated the first thread with the latest details but cannot without asking permission from AB or one of his henchmen...

The meeting place is at Matfews on Saturday morning (some are coming Friday) and the location is via text or PM a few days before the meet.

There will be a Sunday drive also at about 10-10.30am (depends on the state of everyone) but AB will be pacing about at 8.30 to go for a drive.

Just had a chat about what we catered for my 30th and we reckon it was around 1kg meat per 4 people. That's around 3 snags each and 250gms meat for dinner. Add in some salad/sides at dinner (byo?) and that is a relatively good meal.

Not sure how that works for the budget but may be a good starting point for guesstimates?

Hahahahaa! sorry mate i don't mean to be rude but when we have a party or a bbq/ spit for our selfs we calculate .5 - 1kg of meat per person plus sides and drinks

I don't think that's rude at all mate :)

I was looking at it from a photo of view that 250gms of meat per person per meal "supplied" as a pretty generous amount. Anyone that wants 1-2kg of meat for lunch/dinner would surely be expected to bring the additional? Haha

Also fair point on the spit, was just throwing options out there :)

It was on the assumption that most people go for seconds and nibble afterwards and after a quick discussion with jonathan which reminded me that not everyone eats alot while they drink there should be a little bit left over the next morning unless we're animals and smash it during the night hahahaa. Yeah the kids arn't added i the calculations either lol .

Over fueling is one thing but this is more like driving around on a 30ltr sub tank, you won't get very far! Thats why we said a standard main tank roughly 500g to a long range main 1kg worth of fuel.... I mean meat :D

given there will be a big table for teh meat what are peoples thoughts on each family bringing either a Salad or a sweet. can work very well. put them all on the table and go for it.

Sound like a plan. Thats how we do it with our family. Each family bring a plate of something.
I'll grab a loaf or two or three of Vienna or something?

Ok have organized the porta loo, it only ended up costing $220 as I will be picking it up with my trailer and be bringing it down on that and leaving it on there so Matty can decide where the best spot for it is. So I hope every one is happy enough to have to step up into the trailer to relieve themselves. (As long as there is no miss fires into the trailer.) Lol...

Well my attendance is looking a bit shaky, really been looking forwards to this meetup and catching up with a few. I'll make every effort to attend the Saturday afternoon and may even bring two grand-kids along. I've been keeping positive for the last four weeks so not going to change now.

I've posted the following in the 'Angry' thread.

Four weeks ago I woke in excruciating pain, enough to have me rolling on the cold bathroom floor. Quick trip to hospital and a couple of morphine doses found me comfortable enough to have a CT scan which confirmed I had a 7mm kidney stone stuck just outside my left kidney. Because of the location I went on a course of medication for two weeks to try to get it to move into a safer position for removal. The medication was made up of some potent pain killers and something to relax and expand my ureter. Other than make me nauseous and light headed for about six hours each day it didn't help move the stone.
Last week I had another CT scan, Xrays and another barrage of tests and the stone hasn't moved at all. Now I'm booked in for surgery this Wednesday and still on the medication.
Still not sure what option they will use, I'll find out after the CT scan on the morning. Looks like whatever option they use I'll have a stent installed for a fortnight and the removal of that is going to be a whole different experience.
In life I've been pretty much bomb proof, only real surgery I've had was the removal of my appendix (removed at 7:30pm and went home next day at noon). Been looking forwards to the meetup on Saturday and I'm staying positive that I'll be out of hospital and able to attend on the Saturday afternoon.

8th September 2014, 11:46 AM
oh wow mate watched my old man go through a kidney stone not very pleasant at all.

Krisso yep plenty got a coles with grog shop or over the road is a pub n bottle shop to. if that doesn't fix ya up within 30 mins we have about 3 othwr towns with full supermarkets even a larger shopping centre so no issues with any of that. I'm sure the coles or pub will be plenty though

its always fun meeting forum people for the first time, and it actually feels weird to call them by their real names... kinda like you introduce yourself by your real name and the other bloke goes "who?" and you say "rusty_nail" and they go "ahhhh, makes sense now" and then you are just known by your forum name, its odd but strangely natural... if all that makes sense...

ok for the guys coming Friday pm me and I will send you address if I haven't already.

those coming Saturday there will be a sign on the corner of 2 roads just out of gisborne heading towards Bacchus Marsh. From there you can follow nissan patrol signs to the spot.

cheers

does google maps take you to the right place if you just punch the address into it?

Bloodyaussie
10th September 2014, 01:54 PM
Its a funny spot as far as google or gps goes but it gets you withing 150m of the place and you will not have trouble with there being a tonne of Patrols there...

what you on about Jonathon it gets you to my front door no problem. maybe some older gps units might have issues but the road and house has been there for 30odd years lol.

nic there is only a very small handful of houses on my street and I am the first on the left so I am guessing you won't miss the huge nissan patrol banner or the big fire or somewhere around 20 cars parked in a paddock lol

ok guys one again I'll post.

those coming Friday have pmd me. those coming Saturday I will post up the location of the first sign to follow.

if I was to pm everyone the address I would want to start now to make sure I get to everyone so I will just post where to find the first sign. only I know where I will put it so please just wait till then. I will post it up first thing Friday morning.

if you need to plan for timing etc aim for gisborne. I am about 10 mins out of gisborne along the Gisborne Bacchus marsh road.

bring on friday can't wait lol.

is it ironic I have to travel the furthest out of everyone coming to attend a meetup at my own house lmao

What UHF channel are we gunna be on so all know. HAHAHHA

On a serious note fellas. The first sign will be on the corner of Gisborne Rd and Coffeys Rd, Bullengarook. That address will get you to the first sign which will tell you which way to turn at the cross road and then the preceding intersetions until you find the bonfire and caravans/campers/tents setup.
