Hello,

I have a Ford Maverick GLX [1997], (in the UK, It is the Nissan patrol with a Ford Badge apparently?).

I have installed a new stereo, (or attempted to), the power comes on but no sound at all, and since installing the new stereo the dash lights do not work, and none of the interior lights?

So no sound, no dash lights and no interior lights? What have i done?

I cut the plugs off the original cables and hard wired the new stereo so I can't even reverse my actions?

Sounds like you shorted something and have blown a fuse

Apologies... Just so worried about what I have potentially done to my car! I'm a complete blonde when it comes to cars.
I can't seem to find any blown fuses? It's all so confusing.

When you cut the cables (unless you disconnected the battery) you would have shorted out some cables and blown fuses. Check every fuse and fuseable link - I'm sure you will find your problem there.

Hello!

Thank you ALL so much for your help! I have found two blown 10's. replaced them and lights are working. I removed the stereo as they kept popping. Does anyone know what these wires are? I can't find a diagram anywhere?
Thank you once again! :)

Try tracing them back, they may be spare power wires check with a multi meter or test light.
some heat shrink sleeving and solder would be better than those connectors imo

An auto elec once told me that some Q's came out with factory fitted amplifiers and that he couldn't find diagrams any where. Maybe that are what these wires are for.

Nissan would not use connectors like that... Looks after market to me.

Yes some GQs had an amplifier, it is under a small plastic box under the front passengers seat.

Don't try and earth through the existing wires. Earth directly to body. That is most likely knocking your lights out. You can also check for speaker wires using a normal battery(torch), one wire on on end the other touch on other end. Generally the wire with the trace stripe will be the negative. Does it have electric aerial? If others are not stoping it from working don't worry about them. Good luck.
