Well mount Gambier is dying..
So many jobs have been lost in the past 12 months, and another 19 yesterday..
There is no work here anymore.. Unless your one of the lucky few to have a job in timber, your options are move, or move..

The once bustling main street is starting to look like a ghost town.
It's sad because there are so many beauties here.
3 years ago we were the 2nd biggest town in sa..

So if your planning a trip make the time to drop in, spend some time.. Even in the cold of winter there is so much to do..

Help out a town on the brink of collapse..

I have fond memories of camping on the roundabout near the big lake many, many moons ago on motor bikes.
The Police didn't even shift us on lol, I don't think its just Mt Gambier either, You will always have tourism
but that is limited to only a few jobs.
I always make a point of stopping in the smaller towns when travelling even if it does cost $4 a can of coke
Two car loads it all adds up IMO

It is such a beautiful place, (except for the concrete power poles, ugly flaming things). When the kids were younger, we used to regularly make a day trip to The Mount.

The shopping is great, food and entertainment excellent. (Bowling and Movie theater).
The Blue Lake, Fauna Park and play ground were fantastic. Then, we would get ice-creams for the trip home. The sink-holes caves, Port Mac, Nelson, Piccininnie Ponds, Glenelg River, Vineyards and Portland are all within easy reach for a visit.

It really does have so much to offer, but sadly is out of the way..
People travel to either Portland or robe, or scoot across at boarder town..

Unfortunately I think we will be selling up while houses are selling. Well hang around but the timber industry is very brittle to and I think if we keep slowing in the building sector it'll be all over..

Anyway, circle of life.
