Anyone use a GPS Tracker? I'm looking at something like this, permanently wired in, external GPS and GSM antennas. I had a paid service in my Clubsport R8 (Autotrak I think it was called) but I like the idea of this. I know there's smaller ones, but this seems more versatile, any thoughts????

Yes, 2G still alive and kicking on all major networks and as these don't use data, just phone calls and SMS, it isn't a big issue.....

I have a GPS tracker that uses SMS, it will let my kids know where I am via GPS co-ordinates on the laptop.
If stolen I can SMS it will tell me what speed and where my Patrol is plus any conversations taking place
Its all wink wink nod nod where its located, need to know basis and nobody but me needs to know.
For the cost of a sim card a little bit of peace of mind

I guess the biggest issue is, plan or pre paid for the thing??
Do companies have a tracking plan??
Imo it woukd use f all..
Maybe $1 a day would be heaps imo..

I'd be looking at Aldi prepaid, pay as you go. Uses Telstra network including 2G. Looking at the $15 prepaid and it lasts a year. It only needs to make SMS calls which are 12c, easily topped up and I'd only turn it on when I need to, so I would think the $15 pan would be enough (125 sms's).
