4 out of the five rocker ARB rocker switches I have are now busted. All the same way. The two c shape clips that hold the rocker onto the switch have broken. Are the Custom rocker switches any better? I wouldn't mind led type too as the ones I have now get quite hot.

Thanks.

SCA are now selling rocker switches, branded with their 4wd brand. Not sure on the quality though.

Yeah I won't be buying their switches...My guess they are just re branded of the same junk I have. I'm going to check out the Narva range on Saturday to see what they are like.

Your talking about the Carling type rockers?

Hodge

I'll give you the news. They all come from the same plastic mould in china. Unsure of the narva ones though.

Over the years the Carling ones have broken in my cars too, the thing is I don't know if they are original or copies.

They can get a bit expensive if they keep failing.

You can just buy the rocker part if that's all that breaks,
BTW what are you turning them on with a hammer lol
Its a switch one finger operation

I like these ones,

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SK0964&form=CAT2&SUBCATID=978#1

Nice and compact, require a round hole so its easy to cutout and have LED illumination :-) I have a panel made up of them, Ill find a pic somewhere a bit later.

You can just buy the rocker plate, but whats the point of buying chit to replace chit? They are just poorly made crap John. I'll see the Narva ones tomorrow at work so I'll see...

I reckon they break because the plastic gets brittle from the heat of the globe thats inside it. As the last one that just broke two days ago I never touch. I just fell off...

I've got the custom rocker off ebay Mark seems ok, but the blue led's are bright as lol. For 30$ each i'm not sure how many you want to replace at once.

Not everyone want their cockpit to look like it cost the under 10$ for 100 switches that look like they where placed randomly. But then again 0 farks given in gq's so who cares if its not aesthetically pleasing to look at!!!

Thinking price would reflect the quality, like the 50 amp Anderson Im not convinced the terminals are silver plated on the copies
and the different colours are not compatible either.
Didn't think LEDs produced heat as there is no working part on them

You can but the new covers only with etched prints for $5 each. There is a special to for removing the switch covers that works a treat and won't break the tabs off.

G'day Mate,

I recently bought some rocker switches from this fella on eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ARB-Carling-Style-Rocker-Switch-Air-Compressor-LED-Spot-Light-Winch-Pump/111283172766?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1% 26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D807151027048911914 2%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D20131017132637%26rk%3D1%2 6rkt%3D4%26sd%3D111283172766). They seem to be very good quality and a very good range in stock. Very quick postage as well.

Hope this helps you out.

Adam

Mate they are NOT the same switches as what ARB provided me when they wired in my lockers, lights, fog lights etc... I've bought switches from that bloke on the bay that jackwalks mentioned, and they are junk compared to what ARB actually fitted for me. Different feel of the plastic, and the lights on the eBay ones are not as bright, terminals also look cheeply implemented in it.
Not saying the ARB provided ones are good, just saying they are different. I've been down this road with my Navara last year. I actually took it in to show Simon and he reckons they are may be a knock off.

Well then those eBay ones are even worse! As I said they're all s*** My son got to my compressor switch and gave it a mighy QC test, and of-course it stopped switching. lol
This is the ARB one I'm talking about.

Genuine carling switches will have made in mexico.

mudski
5th July 2014, 02:33 PM
Yep, same as the one I used to sell for KW. stuffed with the green goodies...
Edit I checked out the Narva switches. Much better feel that what I have. Only issue was they didn't have the ones I wanted. I am thinking of wiring in my winch as well now up to the dash. So that's another two I need isn't it? One to turn the winch power on and one to operate the winch?

All LED's produce heat, check the cooling fins on light bars, down lights etc.

Even though the switch will have a low wattage lamp some heat is generated.

I have used metal toggle switch's with LED's for 5 years now having no problems.

I can feel the heat after they have been on for a while.

But anyhow, I will have a look at what is on offer and decide. I got a little time to do it...

These are the type I have been using, cheap and do the job but can be a bit bright.

I reckon I'll go the Narva range. I can buy direct from them so I just need to work out what I want and if I will get the switches for the winch and do that while I'm at it.

I have been using switches from Air On Board for a couple of years now (http://stores.ebay.com.au/air-on-board/Rocker-Switches-/_i.html?_fsub=450280819&_sid=292736109&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322).

They were recommended to me when I was on the Navara forum. I have never had one break and they seem to have a switch for just about everything I can think of putting on my vehicle.

Slow going mate. Things have changed this year business wise so its on the back burner. But i will tell you, that the Narva switches run rings around the cheaper ones. I replaced all mine with Narva carling type rocker switches, and, they are much better. The cheap one on eBay are absolute rubbish. All mine broke the same way within months on having them. The Narva's have been in for a while now and still work.
