View Full Version : Lower front seats in a GQ wagon?

Hi and apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I've been searching this forum and google without success trying to find if there are any seats available that would provide a lower [and preferable further back] seating position. I'm only a tiny 6'6" but even I have trouble fitting in at the moment [knees around ears syndrome].
Cheers in advance

moving it back wouldn't be a huge job IMO getting it lower may be a bit harder,
if at all it can be done. might have to see what some of the taller guys have, I'm only 6'

mate, what you need is a GU patrol, wayyyy more headroom, and tbh a nice cheap fix =P

seriously though ive got nothing that can help you with lowering your seats.

As for length, you could probably extend the seat rails but I don't know how. I'm only a mere 6' 3", so it's not a major issue for me.... It would be nice to have more leg room in my manual but my kids would be even more squished.... In my auto, no issue at all

Safari import "hi roof", sound like what you want to me.

That bracket under the rail,
Could you cut some meat from the middle of it? weld back together and reinforce.
Other side humm not sure need to look at it .

I'm not quite as tall as you BT, until recently my father in law had a Datsun Patrol cab chassis early 80's maybe.
He was a tall bloke too and the seat wasn't adjustable or it was stuck all the way back, it was designed buy a little Japanese man for little drivers.
Buggered if I know how Rob drove the thing. He took it to the Cape, would have been a looong trip.
Before he passed away he said I could have it, I didn't fancy driving it over 1000klm home. It wasn't in real flash condition.
I was scratching my ears with my knees both at the same time!

As to your problem is there another seat from a sedan or something that is not so high in the cushion?

Maybe take the OE seat and get less firmer foam sculptured on your base, with a small thigh bolster.
That's one possibility, talk to your nearest upholsterer, easy enough to do for them.
Saying that I raised my drivers seat 40mm, it is a strato 3000 with lumber , way lower than OE
I used the Strato rails as well.

I think they used average asian size when making the seats just like they do with clothing sizes, you have asian size and you have full cut, huge differences.

The problem I see happening is the lower the seat the straighter your leg is ,right .
Won't you need to sit nearly as close for a bent leg to push clutch in.
(Just a thought hope it helps you get it the first attempt).

If my Strato are about 50mm lower ,other after market seats may be the same

Same boat- wanting more room. Is this seat comfy?
