Hi everyone, I have joined this forum so I can get information to help me understand parts of my sons patrol. He is trying to repair things himself. At the moment he is trying to remove sump cover but is having a few probs, so i thought i might get information on here. Libby

My son's patrol is a 2.8 turbo diesel motor. It is his first 4x4 and he was excited about going bush bashing. On his second trip he got an oil leak at front of motor and he took it to mechanic and they quoted $4,000.00 to fix it so he is having a go at it himself. I think it is a crankshaft oil leak, the mechanic had pulled it apart but as my son didnt want them to repair it they wanted $400.00 to put it back together which he declined so now has to put it back but he needs to get sump cover off to check pistons position, but he is having problems getting back bolts of off sump dont know how to get socket or wrench in. I have been searching the web for information to help him.

Maybe the 2.8 owners will chip in, but I thought the gearbox had to come out???
