I'm sure there has been a lot of talk about GQ Carby's and the problems they have. Over the years I've had my own fair share of problems, not so much during the warmer months but come winter I've had nothing but trouble especially on start up until the car gets warm, for the first ten minutes or so after starting the car it would cough, chug and carry on and then driving down the road it would backfire and had flat spots under acceleration. I've taken the car to different places and had this and that adjusted which would help a little for a while but then it go back to having the same old problems. Then one day I was talking to another GQ Carby owner who put me onto Nigel who owns The Carby Shop in Melbourne's Eastern suburbs. Nigel has been rebuilding carby's for over 20 years and has done hundreds of GQ's, after talking to him on the phone for about 45 minutes (he loves a chat) I was sure he could help me out so I booked the car in, a couple of days later he rang to say he was confident he'd fixed the problem which ended up not being just the carby but a few other small problems which all contributed to the car running the way it was, so down I went to pick the car up and I have to say it's never run better, even on the cold mornings, it starts and runs great and doesn't skip a beat, so I would highly recommend you talk to Nigel if you're having any kind of carby issues.
