Hey guys I'm rebuilding my td42 with a kit from SMS diesel I'm sticking with my rods because of 28mm pins ect would u suggest ceramic coating the pistons I s it worth it?
Il be running a bigger pump bigger turbo 3inch exhaust and around 20-25 psi

Wouldn't hurt there's a few guy's that have done it.

Bit more durability for a relatively small cost. Get on it.

My only concer is time off the road as il have to get the kit then dummy assemble it to work out how much will need to be decked before I can get coated right? Because my blocks being decked .15 also

Just pre top and coat your pistons to suit the deck height you have. Most engine guys will know pretty close to the thickness of their coating.

Speak to whoever is doing your machine work.

You really need to dummy it to get a deck height to suit pistons anyway. Not just deck it .15 as it might not be correct.

The above were bought pretopped already coated and block/liner heights machined to suit.

Ok mate so buy pre topped and coated and then deck the block to suit the pistons u mean?

Yes.

Ceramic coating can also aid in performance as it helps to keep the heat in the gas instead of losing so much to surrounding material what this can help your turbo work more effectively.

To get the liner and piston protrusions I wanted we dummied it and then decked the block to suit.
