Hi Guys,

Just bought my first Patrol a 1999 4.2TD Wagon in good nick with 280 on the clock. Had a plethora of Rangies before and a few Hilux's including one with a 304 conversion. Time for something reliable I can take the family in!!

Looking forward to reading through some posts to improve the performance of my stock standard 4.2 and making my Patrol my own.

Dan

Thanks guys! Already doing a lot of reading and found my first problem with the patrol. Wouldn't start this morning. Cold morning and I'd parked it on an incline. Turned it over for quite a while and nothing. thought maybe the diesel had drained back to the tank so rolled out down the driveway and pointed it nose down. This time tried it with a bit of a pump of the pedal and it eventually started pretty roughly but came good pretty quick. Do these engines usually require a bit of pedal to start in the cold? or is it likely the fuel drained out? Thoughts?
