Hi all! :)
Was wondering if anyone knows of somewhere which is open after hours, and could install a head unit (Pioneer, pretty basic just CD/USB input, no bluetooth or anything) in a GQ.
Like maybe a mobile installation business?
My old head unit just started playing up and basically chewed up my CD, and we're heading away this weekend - eek!
Didn't want to try installing it myself as there's not much time if I stuff it up.
Any suggestions appreciated!!

Where are you? A member on here might do it for some beer money or something. It's dead easy to do mate, give it a go!

Oh sorry should have said haha I'm in Melb.
Would have been up for giving it a go if I had a bit more time but heading off early Sat morning
Not sure what tools you'd even need? I have a screwdriver hehe that's a start? No soldering iron though

Soldering iron is ideal but you could use crimp connects if you had to. Mate its 3 wires plus speaker wires in the simplest form. You can hookup headlight wires if you want but not necessary.

Is the headunit the original? If it is you can get a plug and play system from super cheap autobahn etc

Yep believe it's the original Nissan CD player, so hoping it's easy enough to wire my new one in
Just inconvenient trying to get it done last minute, because I don't have a garage, parking is poorly lit and would need to buy a couple of tools etc

As its stock use a wiring harness. Basically it just makes it all plug and play the only downside is it costs a bit more.
Autobarn, repco, supercheap etc have them. Probably take you all of about half an hour

Mate, I', just going to say this how it is.
Do you want to be always having to paying somebody? Look mate this is not rocket science, in terms you have no garage make do with what you have and lighting with all the led options out there now. Bunnings cordless rechargeable led flood light.
There is everyone here to help you, the only way we can help you is if your wiling to help yourself. There are 9 screws to remove the front facial in the center dash piece. 2 in both the top air ducts, one in the ash tray and 2 ethier side near your knee. Undo it mate and have a look for yourself.
Seriously give it a go mate, there is nothing more rewarding that completing projects on your own. Yes you dont have any of the skills required but have you ever thought how do people obtain these skills. Its very simple mate, by giving it ago!
You have no idea how many skills I have taught myself over there years with the help of forums.

hi Lucus30 sorry for the slow reply!! I start work early so weekday mornings are hard (depending how early you get up hehe)
A friend recommended someone they know who can give me a hand after work tmr and could prob use the cash so we'll see how we go.
Thanks heaps for the offer though - will keep it in mind if we don't get it done hehe
Silent Dreams, you are right I should try doing these things instead of having to pay someone. just didn't want to stuff it up and then run out of time for someone to fix it before I go away on Sat and get stuck on a 3 day driving trip without music lol!
Need to build up some skills but also a tool kit lol I seriously don't even think i own a hammer.. sad right!
But I'm a girl haha is that a good excuse?

Success - head unit is in :D and appears to be working
Turns out it came with a wiring harness so that was handy
Glad I got some help though, the instruction booklet was not super helpful
:)
Edit: used wire crimpers as suggested above
And had to disconnect the amp which i hadn't realised!
