On the road back after bbq and some mushroom hunting, right in the middle of the nowhere I got my first (and I hope the last) tire blast. It happened on the 85 km/h. There where I, my wife and 2 my children inside the car. Its our luck that it was desert road and blast of the rear tire not front one. After that I changed all tires to the new.

The belt of tire cord, which you can see on the first photo screw back the mirror on my door and left the scratch on it, when it disengaged and fly away from the tire.

I can't imagine how it was on the bike. You are lucky that you are ok after it.

Yap, its absolutely nothing around me in radius 50 km. Nearest tire montage 85 km from the blast place.

Luckily minimal damage.
Mate of mine destroyed his back mudguard when the tyre let go. It was a re-tread.

I had a re-tread let go on the front of a Datsun 1600 many years ago and aside from almost causing a crash it dented the guard and smashed the indicator assembly.

PHEW! Thank goodness you guys are all ok. It's a heck of a thing to have a tire go.

As for BA having a front tire go on a bike? Bollocks to that! I got an adrenalin rush just thinking about it!
