6m X 6m Woodworking Gear and a lot of Junk (Time for a Garage Sale). I have a bigger one the Victorian High Country with Fires for telling tall stories , Mountain Streams for catching that big Breeder (and releasing),Tracks for exploring and scenery worth dying for. I am blessed

Strewth... nearly had a Heart Attack for a minute there.

I thought a Man Cave was the next step in the ageing process after Man Boobies and I am just not ready for THAT... I'm already a C cup

ET that's WAAAY more information than I needed, I'm going to need a few more rums to erase that mental picture!

My shed came with the house when we got it. It was a 6x9m (first photo) but last year we added a 6x6m extension so now 6x15m.

http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx224/tonyh01/P1010001-1.jpg

My fit out of the shed is far from complete but when finished will house the fourby and camper in the RH end, 6x5m workshop in the middle and the LH end will be walled off and divided down the middle to give me a 3x4m store room and 3x4m office/brewery.

What's a shed? I've got a little room under the main roof about 1.5 x 3.5. Lucky I've got good neighbours.

Some of my stuff is sitting under the carport - which is about 1cm too small for my truck to fit under. Doh

P.S. is that you on the yellow 3 wheel drive in the Pic Tony? You shouldn't be drinking Rumbo's at that age.

6x6m double carport with VE val on side, tools and small aceessories and parts in other side sharing space at mo with spare SD33T motor, 1200cc austin motor and MG box, and ride on mower.

3x3m garden shed with 2x4hp boat motors, engine crane and stand, bead breaker, garden hand tools, spare wheels for projects, and Finly parts.

20' container with for sale vehicle parts.

20' container with christmas lights, computers (other past time activity), and stuff in storage in general.

20' container with roofing iron steel etc in it.

old rainwater tanks nearly emptied out and going to scrap.

still need to house all motors in the last container when I fix roof for it.

Picture tank with door cut out of side X2 not much use as veg garden in that condition . Good thuoght though. would make good wet weather shelter for sheep goats etc in paddock.

Man Cave,
Sh*t everywhere cant find a thing , its a 3 day expedition to find that part/tool for that 5 min job
You find on your expedition stuff you never thought excisted,it takes 5 years to discover theres a back wall
A dozen or so unfinished "one day",projects
No clear passage from front to back,oh did i mention sh*t everywhere
Everything is filed under "f*ck knows",or "over there",or even "its here somewhere"

Cant see how the word yuppie fits the bill

Oops, forgot to post up the man cave as promised. Finally finished her last week but still have no power or plumbing done yet.

Took me about 3 months trying to find the right tilt door, window and door frames, etc from Ebay but got there in the end!

Nothing flash just a 9m x 6m but It's a lot better then taken up the carport and garden shed with tools, etc.

Tim,
Dont throw old rain water tanks, they make excellent raised vegie gardens
Ive got an old 5,000 gallon tank cut in 1/4s ,four vegie gardens
No more back breaking bending, pickin of the ground

Yep, old tanks are great for vege gardens. Here's my weed garden...I mean vege garden...lol

Handly tip for some of you home builders
When buying stuff for the man cave, look at auction places
I bought most of my shed from these joints
200mm C purlin,new from retailer youll pay $15+++ a metre
Bought 200mm C purlin (new factory seconds, maybe a scratch or two, bent on one end or something)
$3-$5 a metre
Shop around for screws and bolts
1 bolt supplier wanted for 100 purlin bolts $50
Bought exactly the same from another supplier $15
Tex screws the same ,1 place $50 for 500 screws
I bought 1,000 screws for $50
Roof screws of ebay
$30 for a box of 1,000 65mm roof screws (new these are between $150-$200 a box)
My shed to date,yep not finished (its 12M x 12M ATM),will be 18M x 12M when finished
To date cost is around 3K
No concrete floor, yet, but includes the 6Mx6M raised floor for the games room (flooring alone was $400)
To buy a new shed and get built, youll pay aroun 15-20K (thats a 6M x 9M)that includes the concrete

Forgot to add the beers in that equation, but thats a given for life so wont add that in

Just thought I'd keep the thread hijacks happening, HQ is SAE pattern and Commodore is metric pattern. And yes when doin big Burn outs etc it matters, as you can brake studs if putting wrong wheels on wrong stud pattern. I know many people do it and have no problem, but, under the wrong conditions and pressure studs will break.

Sorry for the hijack - but it involves man caves!!! lol

Basically we wanted a house - bit of land and all that. My only stipulation was a decent shed as I can't use the one where we are renting as the owners store their gear in it. Wife found a joint, great block, great entertainment area, great pool area, and best of all - two massive sheds, a car hoist already in place, and a 200 square metre flat concrete pad in front of the sheds ... one shed (smaller one) still to be sheeted, but all the materials already there ...

Can't wait to get into it and basically make it my home!!! lmao

Great to get ideas off here and others with things to put in it!!!

And yes, a pig on the spit house warming will be happening!!! lol

Well, necessity drive innovation today in the new man cave ...

Been working on a mates car and was struggling with piling tools on a chair whilst pulling the plenum off and swapping the injectors, sooooooo ...

Figured I needed a tool drawer/roller bench, and found that the faithful old study wall unit fit the bill like a bottler!!! Proceeded to sit the tools on it (it's on rollers, so works a treat and is heaps cheaper than a market tool trolley) and deck it out to my liking - so far so good ... until the missus sees it I guess ... or wonders why the printer and binder machine are in the floor - lmfao ...

Anyway, here tis ....

You can run the head unit through a 240v amp with RCA cables so as long as there is power in the shed we are set :)

True. I have seen similar sort of setups with competition sound cars they just plug the bad boys into the wall so they dont kill their batteries I am curious now might have to do some googling

Winnie
13th July 2012, 08:21 PM
They would have a huge battery in and a high capacity charger I would say.

Our setup works for now but it's not really a good way of doing it, but it cost us nothing which is why we went that way. If we had all 240V gear we would have used that instead.

Found this. Done a little reading and its what some guys are using for their audio demo cars.

Yeah thats fair enough. I would have probably done the same if i had all the gear lying around rather then spend money :)

40A would only power a pretty small setup, certainly not comp-spec. Stereo in my Patrol alone needs 100A

I used to do comps when I lived in Melbourne. Please share your setup. Would be interested to know If it truly needed 100 amps :)

600W in speakers and a 500W sub. Works out to be a bit under 100A and I know the speakers aren't using that much power all the time (if ever) but as a general rule of thumb you need a power supply that can handle about 30% over what you're using it for.

I'd be interested in entering mine in a local sound comp. Not because I think I'd win, I'm just curious as to how much noise it's putting out.

I just re read what I wrote and it sounds like I'm a dick lol. Wasn't intended that way I'm writing this in bed haha. Yeah some comps have a open event where you can enter for shits and giggles. Which most people do what you said. Out of curiosity

There's a comp held at Autobarn down here every now and then. It's nothing formal, I'll go along next time though.

I dont think You would ever pull 100A as your alternator physically couldnt keep up even a 120A alternator would be pushing it even when the car is running. If you have a look on your amp there will be a overload and short protection fuse, what size are these? This will generally tell you the peak amps your amp will pull. And most of the time the fuse you put inline on the main feed cable is about 70A.

I'll check this tomorrow. The ~100A I said would probably be maximum current draw

We also built the frame for the roof for the veranda out the front but I can't get access to those photos.

Winnie you need stuff like Farads, or storage capacitators, 80 watt solar panel to top up your batteries, have you seen a radio comp set up we are talking $$$$$$$$ not some old stereo speakers and 3 car batteries, Its an art, not my cup of tea but admire the workmanship. a friend has a holden FC 59 panel van the back is just speakers, perspex and amps. Looks awesome, sounds loud

Mate if snakes want to get in then they will not find it very hard at all. There is no door or anything on the shed. Cables are fine there too they run on top of that log, don't even heat up.
