Hi,

I'm looking at installing an oil catch can on my 98 GU RD28, is there anything in patricular that I need or to watch out for?
Any specific type of oil catch can do you guys recommend???
Cheer ppl...:)

I just fitted a provent 200. I previously had a supercheap jobby. I did a test with the pcv not venting back to the air intake, and the Intercooler was pretty clean, so for myself I know what I am expecting.

Things to be mindful of:

If you make your own, be mindful of flow. You don't want too restrictive. This means playing with the amount of steel wool inside.

If the catch can that takes your fancy has a tube on the side so you can see how much oil is in it, take the tube off and plug the holes.

Forget the ones with a filter on top.

You may need to add steel wool and baffles to a cheapie.

A simple mounting location is on the inside of the bull bar to one side. Remembering you want to be able to drain it easily.

How much oil fumes does a 2-8 produce I have 3-0 CRD and on long runs oil mist is present I did use 200 series catch can but now just vent straight out through to chassis rail.

They're 14 + years old, so it could vary. Mine certainly coats the Intercooler insides without it.

Higher revs makes more mist for me.

Edit : I've gone to a provent 200

Do you have a mist when engine is at running temperature, at oil cap? I know my 07 runs higher crankcase pressure, just noticed it the other day, interested in comparison or other Gu IV 07 cheers

If you get the provent 200 get the whole kit, pipes etc. they are a mongrel to buy after.

Didn't know there was a kit. Is it patrol specific?

Sorry mate. been away. Not sure what the 2.8 is like but to get the reducers and the right pipe for oil is a pain. I have a 3lt. Western filters do a kit with hoses.
