gu 2.8 turbo injector pump timing

Hi can any one help with the correct way to time the injector pump on 99 gu 2.8 turbo.
After fitting a reco motor i would like to check if the pump is set correct,i have a ecutalk (reads the injector timing from the ecu) on my note book, i checked my mates patrol (same as mine) the injector timing is way different.
Any help would be appreciated.

In most aspects they will be different.

You can check your static timing but you will need the appropriate adaptor and a dial indicator.
