Hey guys.
Just wondering if any of you guys use any additives when running your car on gas.
I have a '89 GQ with a TB42 which has a bit of a problem with the petrol side of things not working. Not sure if its a fuel pump or blocked lines ect. But for now i am stuck with running the car on gas. Are there any additives that would reduce the stress on the engine with always being run on the dryer gas?

Cheers,
Mike

Its a good idea to run a upper cylinder oil kit.

Being a 89 tb42 im guessing you have a carby. You need to put a kit though the carby.

Consider upgarding to a pertonix, and extended rotar button

Your carbie has probable dried out from running on gas all the time, service the carby then run on fuel at least once a week.
Or start on petrol and change to gas when its warm, then a few Ks from home go back to petrol ready for the next morning.
other than that some Moreys upper cylinder lubricant might be helpful.

Petrol is the key to the answer as TD suggests.

As far as I know there is no product that will help your carby,
Maybe buy a second hand carby and reco that ,then you'll have no down time
Which ever way you look at it the carby needs to come off
Or book it into a carby shop, is there a Holley conversion available ??
Using an upper cylinder lubricant will help with valve seat recession.
Is it really worth running on gas when prices are 70 a ltr in town and way more
the further you travel, there has to be a point where its just not worth it,
considering its not doing your motor any good, run it on petrol as it was
designed for and go easy on the loud pedal,

I had a look on the Holley website, they recommend running a dual carb system which i have no time and money to even think about doing that yet.
I dont travel much, its all mostly inner city driving for now, really short trips which would just screw me over if i had to pay the ever rising petrol prices.
should look into the upper cylinder lubricants,
