Any one done a update to a GU III, what I mean is say GU IV flares and rear bumper
or the whole lot with new head lights, grill, maybe rad support havent checked that, bonnet and window cowl

Im asking because I love the look of the updated GU's but Im looking at getting a DX GU III with no flares.
I can easily fit and paint myself, but anyone done it fittment wise? Checked over the two models and doesnt look like much has changed.

I have seen this done quite a few times now, from all accounts the front end, all guards and doors bolt straight on, all flares fit up. The only give away is the tail lights.

A friend put late model flares on his 2010 DX, not sure how they would sit on early series 3
as I'm toying with the idea myself as long as they match the contours of a S3

Had a look at a car yard yesterday they were side by side, as far as I can tell the majority is the same if you want to full update the front end you need pretty much half a car, buit for the flares the pannels seem to have the same lines through out the models, a few screw holes were in different spots, but thats not really an issue. Not entirely sure of the rear bumper... it is wider to match up with the rear flares but I recon the bolt holes would still be the same...

Any one got pictures of what it will look like?

MudRunner I agree the rear lights would be the only give away, but the late model 3's have updated lenses anyway that look nice.

From the front you simply can not tell that your series 3 is not wrapped in a Series 4 grill, headlights, bonnet, quarter panels, flares. I even saw one last week that had the full GUIV interior including the full dash into a GUIII! impressive!

Oh wow thanks for that... The rear bar looks odd or is that just me?
The dash and interior swap aswell that was another question I was wondering... Is the dash cluster from the older dash or is that updated? I cant tell...

Dash looks like my GUIV with Digital ODO, no idea if it works in this car though mate sorry? Must ahve been a massive job for this guy to do this but i came up good. Not sure i like his colour choice though.

I've always wondered this. Might be something to do down the track.... Good to know it fits...I do like the later looking guards. I have changed my steering wheel to the GUIV leather jobbie. I know the clock spring is different and had to cut and modify my GUII clock spring with the wiring from the GUIV clock spring so it would work.

Yeh might have considered it had it been a different colour, that and it is petrol not diesel.

*shakes fist* Damn you!!! Now I have another item to add to the mod list. This bloody TD42 rebuild keeps getting pushed further and further back.

Haha. Might be calling around a few wreckers. New flairs cost an arm and a leg.
