hello I have recently installed a dual filler set up to my gq,im using a standard gq patrol main tank and hoses, problem is when the tank is 3/4 full and I take a corner the fuel sloshes and it hits the petrol cap and leaks out?, I have tried a new cap but it doesn't seal either. all breathers are plumbed up well

any ideas ?

would there not be some sort of one way valve for these things?

By law there is supposed to be but those twin filler necks sold by Patrolapart and other places do not have a flap in place...

Some people mod the filler neck to have a flap making it legal.

Surely the fuel would not be able to travel up the filler and come out the cap just by cornering though? Are you experiencing this johnny? Or have you done something to prevent it?

No I am not but I have seen it happen to others..

what got me stuffed is I thought that what the baffles in the tank where for,i have a gq with a dual filler.i have had the tank out and fitted it back in and I don't remember seeing a flap..Obvisouly it has only just started so must be the filler cap?

I'm going to do a different filling setup, more like a prado.

The prados sub T's off the main line, so the main fills them the sub fills.
A bit of a pain as you can't really tell when your filling the sub, but I usually fill up each time..

@Bloodyaussie could this also be your issue with the smell in your cab??

Have you noticed any fuel overflow signs after installing the dual filler neck??

I'm with WA 489. If fuel is leaking past the filler cap, I would think it's either a problem with the cap or the sealing surface in the filler neck.

fuel over flow, I have a stain down the cut out where the filler sits, yes I was also looking at making a prado set up but the dual filler I bought was cheaper

Say Westy, when you find that illusive answer let me know as well. I am having exactly the same issue on my GU cab chassis.

Rear corner of my ute is constantly drenched with diesel. Think it is coming out of the sub filler. Have moved the sub to sit next to the main tank.

I thought utes wouldn't have such a problem as the filler is positioned higher than a wagon, I only have about 12inchs of pipe from tank to spout, I don't have a problem with my sub tank just the main as its the shorts piping route

i have retro fitted the factory spring flap/trap door, it has helped alittle but not stopped

Well I won't be removing my stock filler neck with my setup, I'm simply running a T off the main line to sub, and work on an over flow to sub setup when filling.
