heat exchange question???

hello there, i have a heat exchange ive just installed, i put the heat exchange in the heater hose going from the heater to the motor, should i have installed it in the hose going from the engine to the heater???? also would anyone have some pics of there set up, if you could chuck them up that would be appreciated, thank you.

the water from your motor will run in and out of the heat exchanger,[circuit 1]
your shower water will circulate on the other outlets [circuit 2]
what brand ??
Edit isn't your heater control how you vary temp so yes connect with heater hose

could anyone please post some pics of there heat exchanger mounted in there engine bay????
Im mounting mine in a td 4.2.
