Hey guys I last night decided that I would change the colour of my safari from red to white so I'm just looking to find out how in depth anyone else who has done a colour change has went. For example how much of the engine bay area did you change and in around the doors behind trims and things. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

How picky are you. Do you want factory standard or just a paint job.
You can be as anal to pull the whole car apart, or just close doors and bonnet, cover any bits and go for it

It gets harder. I recently did mine from grey to black. Front guards, bonnet and vent cover were removed and painted separately. Door jams need to have catches, switches, seals, covers and screws removed. The more you can remove the better. Tape marks are crap and if they can be avoided, then the finished result will be much nicer. Remove door looks and handles, then wind down the windows and remove the bailey channel. They literally just pull straight out and slide back in(with some silicon spray) when it's time to put back together. Also the barn doors will be much easier to paint if you remove the windows. Take the opportunity to replace the seals if you haven't done so. Window removal and installation isn't actually that hard. Heaps to it, but not impossible. I managed it in about a week because I needed the car to be drive able again.

You're a legend mate! I want it to look good especially with such a big colour change and I have the time to do it I just don't want to go crazy either but that sounds good. I have brand new guards that I will spray off the car, I will remove the doors and barn doors and also the bonnet. Did you also lift back the carpet a little on each side where the tread plate is and spray a bit under that?

Personally it's not that hard to remove most of the interior, so I would do that and then spray as far in as you want making sure all visible areas are covered.

Chris,

Best way is to remove everything inside the door jambs, and then tape and paper up on the inside edge of the door frame - that way you are painting everything that is visible with no tape marks or overspray
