Hi All,
I am wondering what is a good underlay for the GQ, as the existing one is original and seen its day.
Are there good sound proofing and water resistant underlays around. If so where can I get it.
I reside in Melbourne`s West.
Thanks all and awesome Forum.

Hi mate I got a whole new carpet and underlay from this company http://www.knoxautocarpets.com.au I got the soundproof underlay and it has made a huge difference to deadening the sound in the cab

High daz
Myself and another bloke have recently completed a sound deadening project on our gq's..
We started with a butyle base and covered with a waterproof closed cell foam. We removed genuine underlay from the carpet..
I'll find the thread now..

Hey mate I installed it myself it wasn't too much trouble at all. The underlay comes in rolls that you cut to size yourself but the carpets are already moulded so you only need to do a bit of trimming on it

I've used Knox as well... moulding was a tad off but overall very happy esp the price

Thanks Kallen, your right thats a huge amount of info, the butyle base and waterproof closed cell foam you mentioned sounds great, especially if you can get rid of the old underlay for good. Do you sell the butyle base and waterproof closed cell foam ?
Thanks Kallen.

Na mate. In the first couple of pages I linked some different supplies off eBay.
Parksy went more top line stuff with dynamat and a good foam.
I went a no name version of dynamat and foam, still in my eyes as good (got a sample kit of each).

Thanks Kallen, what did the whole floor surface area of the GQ end up being?
Much appreciated Dazza

I did about a 40% coverage of the floor and doors with the butyle rubber. The link in the first post has some interesting findings.
Then I did 100% coverage with the closed cell foam.
Carpet was a tight fit, as I added close to 12mm of stuff.. But it all went in well..
While it was up I went threw with the sickaflex and filled any little holes in the body..
