So I've had to pull the front centre out as the locker has air leak. Trouble is I need my car for work. Providing I cover up where the centre sits on the housing and make it water tight. I should be o.k to drive on the black top while I fix the centre?

Cheers.

Personally I would think so just don't engage hubs at all or 4x4 and nothing should move or spin.? I wouldn't be doing it long term or many Kms just rebuild diff ASAP.

hmmm i'd be concerned about what those CV shafts would be doing without a diff centre, wouldnt they be free to slap around?

I won't be able to engage hubs as I have removed the drive shafts and front tail shaft too. It won't be long term. Just so I can get the issue sorted...

Yeah that definitely makes it sound like a lot nicer on the rig, having shafts removed.

Funny as I thought of the exact same thing...

We did exactly that to a Lancruiser that blew out a front diff while on a trip a couple of years ago.
Drove home 200 odd km without incident.

Wouldn't the only benefit be a small weight saving?

Well the car feels no different with no front diff. But. I no longer have the dreaded 80k wobbles! Weird. Nice actually to drive and not have the wheel shake.

Leave them out because you don't go 4wding anyway!
