Hi all

Wondering how high people have been able to set their timing on the tb42/e engines. I've just set mine to 15degrees BTDC and it has made a world of difference. Throttle feels crisp and responsive and the engine pulls a lot harder. Doesn't feel like it's surging as much either, it's just power instead. I run nothing less than 95 octane and will test it for a week just to make sure I don't get any pinging, so far so good. Will try further if all is good.

Thanks for reading all

Andy

I advanced Jonathans timing to 20*BTDC to help it pick up faster but what i was saying to him was because the timing chain stretches with age where you've set it to 15 its actually could be 12 or 10*BTDC. The best way to test it is to advance it 5* till it pings then retard the timing by 5*

Thanks, George, that explains why my RB30 was pinging its head off after I had the timing belt replaced.
