89 TD42 rear axle info needed

Hey guys, I just got a call to say a mate has broken a rear axle.
Its an 89 TD42 Manual Wagon. Im not sure which diff it has though (and does that even matter?). So he's trying to source another axle and just wants to know which ones fit. Are the h233 vs h260 axles different?

Yeah they are different mate.

ok so how do ya tell which Diff? is it 10 bolt vs 12 bolt or something?

Compliance plate. Park it next yours and you will know if it's a 260. Is it leaf or coil?

im nowhere near the vehicle unfortunately. Didnt think about the compliance plate though, thats easy fixed, ill let him know. Cheers

It will most likely be a 233 mate but the compliance plate should confirm that.
