Brad has been a busy beaver on weekends for last couple of months building Amelia a new back end ... She's gonna need a wide load sign tomorrow when her canopy goes on :)43696

Once it's on he has to finish fitting it out with checker plate edging, roof racks, spare tyre swing arm thingy etc etc can't wait to see her finally finished :)

Yes he has !!! And on his own although I'm buggered if I know how .. I went for a nanny nap this afternoon and woke up to poor Amelia with no bloody tray !!

Going to so exciting when it's 101% finished ;). Amelia was named after a vampire so hope grandma doesn't take offense :)

Will be more once it's on Amelia & fitted out. He's got propeller plate strips to go along all the edges, all LED lights, power outlets going inside on the front wall, roof racks, mudguards to build today, put the rear wheel carrier on & an air tank going under the front left corner.

Hmmmm still abit to go when you look at it like that LOL

I've been out and got back to this .... I go "SH}T it looks ENORMOUS and what's all the empty space behind the wheels?"

The response "that's where tool boxes are going, and water tank in middle under canopy (above fuel tank) plus if it's lower the fuel fillers won't be on the right angle"

WTF why do boys need toolboxes when they got a MASSIVE ass canopy?? Or is it just a size thing?? LOL

Just one question how far between the back of the cab till the Pod ??
Looked close on one picture but not bolted at that stage.

Might be too late, but I think I read in Cuppa's build thread something about the value in being able to look back through the pod over the drivers left shoulder and out the side when about to make a Left hand turn or lane change. My mate with a Toyota ute just put clears into his side canvas on that passengers side to help deal with the blind spot as well. Just a thought. Hope you already have it sorted.

Same distance that the tray was - I just measured, roughly 70mm

Good point but yeah too late to change it. He's got extension arms for the side mirrors (not on yet) that also have those little round mirrors on them & a reverse camera that is planned to be used to see behind whilst driving (the monitor clips over existing rear vision mirror)

Always good starting with a blank canvas and transforming it to suit your needs.
I think Cuppa had a camera high up on his pod as well,?
Nice touch with the edging, very swish indeed

I'm pretty sure it is but has brad colour coded it to the cab?

I will make something similar one day it will be a little shorter though to allow for some serious off road play.

No one will be stealing shit out the back now days hey. Some people have talent, congrat's on the new arse.

The camera is between the lights at the top (middle of canopy) just wasn't mounted when I took picture of the back end earlier.

Wish you could see it in flesh - it's pretty impressive to me, especially when it started as a rough drawing, pile of steel, sheets of propeller plate, sheets of composite paneling, boxes of lights, camera, door handles etc and some tins of paint!!

No doubt he'll find things he doesn't like or should have done differently but that comes with experience - for now it's exactly what he wanted :)

Yes he did - colour code is the right one but colour hasn't turned out to be :( he's disappointed about that.

New paint always does :). Maybe the cab might need a polish and it might be a little closer to the colour.

Ute is 2006 so has had its day of sun fade. I know when I put new tub on my Navara (off a 2yr newer model and had been in storage out of sun) it was a different white even tho colour codes matched ...

All done for now - mudguards will have to wait till next weekend along with propeller plate along the bottom edge (have to get them recut - were too wide) and a couple of other minor things

That looks good. Do you happen to have the paint code? I didn't realise it was that different. The colour on the canopy looks closer to the colour of my ute. Makes me wonder if brads has had a respray sometime in its life as I'm yet to see another that colour.

Looks bloody smart though top job. What are his plans for inside it?

Looks great! What was your reasoning for having the spare on a swing arm?

I agree, looks fantastic but was wondering the same thing about the swing away? The Telstra pods have them mounted to the back and the drop down for convenience, not sure why you need to swing the wheel off the back wall?

Looks awesome. I have done allot manufacturing with timber and enjoy designing through to finish. Takes effort, planning and skills. I can see a heap of talent there. Great job.

Awesome job, looks bloody great! And the colour looks like a close match but not metallic if a clear coat was sprayed on too early or on a humid/ wet day it will dry cloudy and look like a matt colour rather than metallic.

Hey Mat :) we'll have to catch up again soon to compare those colours .. You still have our numbers??

Inside - lighting, power outlets, fridge space & possibly draws (Brad just said a disco ball above the mattress in it for camping LOL)

Mostly just so stuff can be LOCKED away after having his tools stolen from the back of the ute.

Spare wheel on a swing arm because eventual plan is to have another on the other side for jerry can holders which left no room for a ladder to roof racks (that thing is frigging high)

Won't be used to swing out until the other side eventually goes on - if that makes sense.

Brad reckons he's broke now LOL. Can't afford all the extras he'd need to tweak BUT as funds allow ....

Personally I reckon you & Mrs Nissannewby should come out for a catch up - along with Macca and Jenni :)

Would love to find the time/$$$ to take Seamus up there .... And try out Amelia's new weight in the ass end.

That's the worst thing now is - we WANT to take both trolls LOL double fuel etc etc although I do think Amelia would get broken before Seamus LOL

HAJAHA well would have to be at Brads place cuz he has an acre and room to park cats/trailers/tents)and HE lives (officially) even further west at THAGOONA ... Google it LOL

And hey, I'm in Chuwar not Ipswich LMFAO (shhhhh just cuz I'm 3mins on the other side of the Warrego Highway doesn't mean anything)

We seriously have to organise something out there - he's got 1/2 acre council easement between him & neighbour .... So plenty of room to park trolls and enjoy the fire pit!!!
