O.k I recently went through all this with my GU. I went and saw my locksmith, and he said the barrels on these cars don't wear out. The keys do...I got the code for the key and the locksmith cut new keys to the code and all's good.

graphite powder on the key, may work if the key is worn and not contacting the wafers/pins in the lock. You can also try gentle heat on the barrel (no flame) this is not a long term solution though.

Might be still around. Not sure what they’re called but they were on High st in Preston, on the city side of Bell st.
As for the code I rang Essendon Nissan parts department and they have it to me. I did know a guy there pretty well at the time. I’m sure if you drive in and ask they will give it to you. But getting one from them was very expensive if my memory serves me correct.
I still have the Nissan parts program on my Laptop. Maybe it shows it on there??? I will have to look…

Problem is, well it was in my case the key was that rooted no one could get it right. jay see pm me your VIN, I'll look on the Nissanfast parts program on your vehicle, it may or may not tell me the code.

Only opens the drivers door after a few minutes of screwing around and the same with the barrel.

I'll see him go tomorrow and report back.

And yes check your pm.
