How many ltrs does a standard GQ DX td42 tank hold? I thought only 70ltr but would it be 90? I fill up when the needle is a squirt off empty and only get 60 ltrs in? So maybe my gauge isn't reading accurately

Gq tank is 95 lt and most gauges seem to be around 20 lt left when it hits empty.

I am at a quandary at the moment as when I top up when the gauge says empty, it takes on
Y 45 litres. Yet when I look under the car, the tank is definitely larger than a 45 litre tank. Would it be the case that the sender is faulty? Were there different length senders for the tanks? I have tried to find markings on the tank and can't find anything and there is no drain point for it. Will get some pics and post up.

About 450...

Drive to a bit over 500kms and see how much fuel you get in it then.

When you get to the E line drain the tank.. That'll tell you how much you have left..

We'll did the rounds of some of the 4wd shops and no one was able to tell me whether it was an auxiliary tank or a long range tank. So got the shits and went underneath and measured the tank. The old length x breadth x height then convert cubic centimetres to litres. After 15 mins had two separate boxes, one for the main area of the tank and another for the ears in front and back of the tank. Total capacity of the tank was 89500cm3 as an outer measurement, which converted to 89.5 litres. Fudge factor says the internal capacity would be no less than 85 litres. One of the independent shops said it was a home job but was well manufactured with outstanding welding and quality fittings. What he reckons the owner has done is replaced the auxiliary sender and inserted the same short sender into the larger tank therefore the float will drop to the limit of its travel, showing an empty tank, where there is at least another 40-45 litres in the tank. Can't drain it as there is no drain cock for it so will run it dry and carry a ten litre jerry on the back for when I conk out and refill it to capacity.

Will let you know how I go...there is no way it is only 45 litres with the measurements I have taken of it.

I'm sure I've never managed to get more than 70 litres in mine, but mine is a jap spec safari.

Well on the weekend I ran to just above the E and only put 70L in it. When it gets to E I can put 75L in and the fuel light comes on not very far after that.

My 148 lt tank still has approx 20 lt left in it on empty but I drive almost 300 km before gauge starts to register with a standard sender
