In the begining there was a F100 shorty 4x4 it was a great truck would pull a block of flats which out hesitation was great in summer but the well ventilated cab got a bit unbearable after 3 winters so on the hunt i went came across a nice looking 96 GQ coil cab ute was love at first sight it came from out west Barcaldine way. It had steel tray, long range fuel tank, heavy duty bull bar and side steps stock td and 200k on the clock, a/c steer and a heater  so i jumped on it the day i laid eyes on it. And haven't looked back.
Built a canopy added some bull lights i got from a swap meet i had the rectangle lights so i cut the holes and mounted them added 33's some new ariels.

Then started getting ready for Cape York 1 ute 4 motor bikes. Had a bit of trouble mid way through the Bloomfield track later found out the filter in the ip blocked up would only rev to 2200 played with it in Cooktown got it to rev to 3200 said that will do carried on with any issues for the rest of the trip except the brake callipers opening up over the corrugations a bit of a surprise coming up to them dips in the road and putting a step ring in back to front when checking wheel bearings :1087:

Got tired of 3rd gear up the big hills put a denco turbo kit on it with new ip with boost compensator and injectors :icon_driving: happy days, clutch lasted 3 weeks not enough clamp pressure. Updated bull lights for light force xgt's then later updated them to hid removed rectangle lights welded plates in the holes got my hands on a big mother hole saw and fitted 2 light force 140's and upgraded them to hid.

Any way the inevitable happened at 2am heading north past Nambor the motor cracked a piston :SNruQWn369624407: ended up a couple of days late for work, saved up got a jap import td42t had to get a new fly wheel as the aspirated td fly wheel didn't fit, a bit of a jump in the deep end as the only thing i ever did to the old td was change oils and filters. More to come.

Motor in i decided to step it up a level got a new manifold made.436304363143632
Then went for an intercooler i decided on a pwr unit as i didn't want to cut holes in the bonnet or other parts and their just down the road. :)436334363443635I went for the pwr 5x6 set up and i had them put fittings in each end of the cooler for temp sensors to monitor in and out temps. Also added a patrol docta air box. Decided to put the heat exchanger under the front corner of the tray got busy with the welder and grinder.43636436384363743639 I updated the intercooler piping to unclutter the engine bay.43640 I'm going to upsize the cooler in the near future as i feel this one isn't big enough and get a new inlet manifold built.

Picked up a pillar pod and fitted 2 autron gauges 1 boost/pyro and a dual battery monitor.4364143642 Went to jaycar and picked up a plastic box that looked like a good size and fitted an engine watchdog tm4 which monitors heat exchanger temp and controls the fan and fitted the pwr cooler temp monitor below that and three switches for fan, wetter pump and lift pump yet to be fitted.4364343644

Yer sorry FNQGU busy at work and a lack of funds and trying to nut out how to fit the frozen boost ic on top of the engine, have to get a new inlet manifold built and a friend helped me with a great idea for mounting the ic, i'm going to use some angle bolted to the ic and use gq/u sway bar rubbers and also thinking of enlarging the the cooling tanks on the ic to aid flow got to love forums too many ideas to lead me astray.

Replaced body mounts after having them in the shed for 6 months and a 30mm body lift while i was at it. The mounts and lift took about 1 1/2 hours and the transfer stick took about 2 hours handy having a boilermaker in the family.

Well what a frustrating couple of days :furious: i decided to take the compensated 10mm pump out and put the factory TD42T GQ 11mm jap import pump in, timed it factory spec is 0.465 i think and advanced it to 0.520, fired it up and sweet as it warmed up the revs climbed to 950 so i give a bit of a rev and it was very slow to return to idle, took it for a lap/thrash around the block no change, thought 6 hours work and the pumps stuffed bugger and packed up for the night. Yesterday went out toped up coolant and had play with the compensator no change to rpm no adjustment left on idle screw then found alternator wasn't charging Bang Head had a little dummy spit, packed up and hit the beer fridge for some deep thought :xxxx::xxxx::xxxx::xxxx::xxxx::xxxx:. This morning got up to change alternator kicked the ute in the guts to move it and the dam thing is charging :Yahoo!:, had another look at the ip thought i'll back the fuel screw off a bit idle came down so backed it off two turns readjust the idle gave it a rev and the revs return to idle like normal now, started thinking what knuckle head would max out the fuel screw on a td with a ht18. So happy happy joy joy now just have to clean the soot up a bit now :Yahoo!:.

Ok update i backed the ip timing to .480 and the engine is much happier. Spent the last day and a half making and fitting a 3 1/2 inch exhaust still got a couple more hours yet to finish the tail pipe, it sounds good so far not too loud just the way i like it. Had my brother weld most of it up for me and he tells me i've got the wrong gas for stainless otherwise the welds would have been better.
53440The 2 1/2 inch to 3 1/2 inch adapter from the S2A dump.
5344253441Then 3 1/2 inch for the rest.
5344353444My brother hard at work.

A little 6 hour play with the ute and the laggy schwitzer off, denco manifold off, replace the exhaust studs, radius fab manifold on, kinu td05-18-8 on and build new dump pipe and rap it. My arms are full of fibres now bit of a suck but the drive ability has improved greatly. Forth gear at 1200 rpm and stood on the throttle the boost needle jumped to 2 psi and climbed steadly from there i think i need to mount a camera somewhere so i can watch it later and see whats going on.

Haven't got it on yet have to get another inlet manifold made and i'm still working out how to support it. I might have to buy some decent clamps for my current cooler popped a hose today.

Put a 6 cm housing on the kinu today now getting 15 psi @ 2000 and 22 psi @ 2400. The pyro seems a little more active i might have to make some fuel adjustments. I'll give it a decent drive tomorrow. Pretty happy with the results so far.

Things have been a bit slow in the build department, payed a visit to Superior Engineering a few months ago and walked out with a set of these. They made a bit of difference to travel think i need longer shocks now.

The big Xgt Lightforce spotties are off and two Stedi light bars are on, the bottom one is their 120 watt ultimate driving light and the top one is the 240 watt hyper spot both are around the 22 inch.

What made you decide to ceramic coat the turbine housing?
Sherro

For heat retention, i've run a turbo sock on the last two turbo's to try and keep the heat down on the surrounding hoses and help keep engine bay temps down plus i'm not sure i can find a sock that will fit the bw.
