Hi all I was wondering if anyone has ever taken out the front end wheel assembly of a gq and replaced it with a normal front end without the four wheel drive, I believe it is possible but Im not sure what I would replace it with,, I reckon it would be a great touring vehicle without the front diff and all that stuff,I love the wagon but the front ends I feel is restrictive, as Im a city dweller the four wheeling part is of no use to me really, reckon Id get much better millage as well as Im running lpg, and am experimenting with Hydrogen assistance when on petrol, ,, some kind of feed back would be really appreciated

I reckon you should just buy a sedan instead of pulling the front end out

X2 with above maybe a soft roader SUV would better suit your needs,
Don't you want to venture where few others go and cut new boundries
and possible set foot where no one else has. That special fishing spot etc..

Why??
When hubs are not engaged there is the same amount or rolling resistance as a standard 2wd setup. Bearings on a shaft..

By replacing the front end all you will save is maybe 40kg or weight, and it'll cost a shoit load imo

I agree - plus you might need to get it engineered - extra cost.

You would save very little with the conversion - if you are mainly concerned with fuel usage look at a td twin cab - ie a navara

We run the patrols as we like there off road abilty -

It was just an inquiry as Id like more of a turning circle for city towing but it don't really matter. If I wanted another vehicle then I would buy one but I like my old bus. Has anyone tried Hydrogen yet or are you all just bush bashers I wonder?

Yes Hydrogen generator mounted on my vehicle to add to air fuel mix,HHO seems like Im having some success very minor at the moment but still its starting to work ,I put the delivery hose into my air intake before the filter and left it to idle for a while on petrol ,when Id started the HHO generator it did change the engine note quite substantially, who knows It just might work and save me a few bob in juice ,but I have noticed the better engine running, anyway Ill keep at it .

I went from 12mpg in town and 18 / 20 open road to 18 / 20 in town and up to 31 mpg on open rd at 100 kph with water injection in a V8. Peak torque also changed from 2600 to come in earlier and continue lots later.

People always said water was no real value but most didn't understand the package. We also altered timing, fitted some 50mm spacer under the carby etc etc

Its amazing just how much water a petrol motor will ingest and how a little fed in in the right place makes a real difference if the rest of the necessary adjustments are made. Also makes for a really clean motor if you ever chose to or need to pull lit down.

Be interested to see how yours unfolds.

Cheers
