Hi
We just sold my husbands Holden Ute as he has wanted a 4wd for quite some time. Our preference is a Patrol.
Our budget is really only $20 000 - which leads us mostly to GU III 2003 3.0 TD models. We are aware there has been problems with earlier models. We have found conflicting information in regards to whether 2003 models are free from these issues. Any advice????
Our other option is 80 series landcruisers but for our price range, they are rather old.
We have looked at one 2003 GU III TD 3.0L automatic with 160000kms, one owner, lady driver, family car, bullbar, towbar and tinted windows which he will let us have for $20 000. The interior is pretty grubby (but nothing a detail wont fix!) and he has admitted they dont look under the bonnet between services (every 10000km). We also found a leak in the turbo which he is getting checked out. THis made us hesitate, but it could be a simple problem. Apart from that, everything looks good.
We are after advice of what models we should avoid and any other information we should be aware of?? We really want a patrol, but very concerned we'll be up for a new engine!!! (our track record of good and bad luck swings this way lol!)
Thanks
Amanda
