what is the maximum psi i can make to this motor without destroying it and accelerate wear?

i know that installing a new larger aftermarket turbo is king, but won't be happening for at least 12 -18 months...due to finance...

anyway, here is my to-do list...in the short term:

- fit 3" straight through exhaust with 3" dump pipe
- fit new / larger air intake from airbox
- install boost/egt guages and sensors
- tune and dyno after above completed

basically, i need a max psi figure in mind to aim for.

Temperature and torque kill a td42. As long as the tune is good there is no reason why they cant push over 30psi and upwards of 40 psi

so, you don't recommend any of these mods?

No I do recommend them, high powered td42s can be a joy to drive

thanks ban-e-boy

any thing else that i have missed?

how do these engine blacktop blocks compare to the pre-1995 silver tops?

i understand there is a bit of competition between these 2 blocks for internal strength and weight, etcc??

As long as your mods are capable of pumping big PSI the engine will handle it. The factory turbo will see no where near that but I run mine at around 15PSI without trouble but would struggle to get much more with any real power increases. Upgrade the turbo and airbox and its a different story though.

thanks.

speaking of pumps - what pump is ideal for this mod?

i have the factory fitted 11mm boost compensated pump - and ask about it's limiting performance / output.

how would a DC 6 12mm injector pump make any difference ?
