Hi guys I'm new to this forum I'm a 97 4.2 diesel GQ coil cab owner and I've had her bout 7 years now and she hasn't given me any trouble at all that is until recently when I lent her to my cousin who managed to cook it within an hour of driving off with it! So I'm up for a large repair bill 8-10 grand I'm told by my mechanic or a good second hand unit out of a later GU Turbo intercooled model for 5 grand? I'd go the second option but when I rang nissan Australia and gave them the engine number (TD42-162782) it's does not appear on their data base and am told it's not an australian delivered engine and must be an overseas import so now I'm not sure? Does any one know how to track down its origin and determine what specification it's built to?
