Cars been making funny noises and just realized I didnt see due to the fan shroud, that front of the engine, pulleys and belt is caked in mud from Tallarook (even though there wasnt much mud, go figure). The rest of the engine bay just has a coat of dust and a splash of water here and there.
If I go nuts with the pressure washer to the front of the engine and just regular pressure (tap hose), to the rest of the bat, apart from the fuse box and alternator am I safe from destroying anything? I need to clean it somehow. Just never done this before, and even though answer is probably I'm safe, just thought I'd ask.

IMO use the engine degreaser , but when rinsing DONT pull the trigger that much pressure will get into places the sun don't shine,
spray from the front and rear you'll see water change colour. don't forget up under the wheel arch as well

I hit my TB45 with the pressure washer and foam lance loaded with CT18 all the time. No problem yet I just avoid the dizzie and alternator.

Alternator will be fine with a light spray, as avoid if using high pressure..
But avoid the dizzy.. If yours has one..
Apart from that yea I smash mine out often but being a td42 they run themselves...

washed mine a while back and just near the front passenger side i must have hit a electrical connection to hard with the hose and it made the car boost erratically even in idol and when driving it would surge with power with steady acceleration. a spray of wd40 in the plug fixed it but it was a trial and error thing till i found what plug it was. if I remember ill put a pic up of the plug if i remember. this is refering to a crd also.
