Just wondering how much sleep one gets in a night and has this decreased as they have gotten older???

I find myself waking and even though I still feel tired I cant go back to sleep and once up I feel ok?? maybe just use to that pain from having kids??

Not enough.

Somewhere between 4 & 7 hours. 7 hours would be a good night. Don't remember the last time I had more than that though

Our little one is 13 months and has been a problematic sleeper from day one.
We have weeks where he sleeps ok but most of the time its many wake ups.

Last 2 nights for instance 5 hours of total broken up sleep.

At this time due to a combination of Sleep Apnea and stress caused by some family issues I am lucky if I get 4hrs a night.

I will get mostly 5hrs maybe 6 during the day if I am lucky ( work night shift ). On the weekends I will prob get less if I work a fri night as I have to do the whole kids run around and shopping then back at it on sun night.

5-6 hrs for me mostly 6. Though not always a comfortable 5-6 if my daughter comes in our room and some times I just go sleep in her bed and leave her with the missus

I find that if I go to bed early I get a better quality sleep & wake up feeling more refreshed, but I don't sleep any longer, so end up waking up ridiculously early.

Anywhere from 5 to 7 hours for me, though if I go for a week straight with 5's I am pretty cactus by the weekend.
Daylight savings has stuffed my internal clock this year and waking up at 4am instead o 5am and not getting back to sleep sux

You must be a young fella. lol. Is that 4-10 on weekends for the whole weekend or per night? PML.

Take care out there.

Rossco

PS.. I'm a 6-8hr per night person, with the odd 'nanna nap' before starting shift work.

Gee it looks like for the most part 7 hours is the norm..... Oh and Andy ya poor little princess there are many dads on here and we have all been through the joys of a new born and no sleep so get over yourself!!!!

I think what makes the sleep thing a pain is the boy comes into our bed every morning (between 4.30-6.30 ) and he just takes up to much room and I dont get back to sleep properly.... little bugger!!

He will grow out of it mate, just keep reminding him to stay in his own bed. Otherwise tie a rope to the bed and his foot, that will definitely fix it...LOL

Feck! I've got my second win by then and am up until around 12-1am. But I am working on the pc until 11pm most nights. so then I need some time to wind down, Then get up around 7:30am most mornings. If I go to bed early I just lie there until around 1am so I might awsell stay up. My eldest now 10 never had a full nights sleep until she was 4 1/2. She would wake up every hour and it would take us half an hour to get back to sleep. The second kid, a bomb wouldn't wake her up...

I run best on 8hrs and like Winnie try to be in bed around 10pm. I'm normally up at 10 to six in the morning. I probably average 7-8 hrs most nights.
I used to be a bit if a night owl but the best thing I did was shift my day around so I'm up early. Gives me a chance to get some exercise done in the morning which pumps me up for the day ahead really well.

7 to 10 hrs for me. I go to bed when I am tired and wake up at bladder o'clock, go back to bed and try for another hour or so.

If I have to be up early then I set the alarm. When camping it is usually in bed a bit after 9 and up by 6, so about 8 1/2 hours. If on the piss with the boys then in bed by pissed o'clock and up when some turd makes enough noise to wake me.

Big advantage I have is I'm well and truly retired, so work is a long forgotten commitment, down side of retirement is I am now an oldphart (:

Averaging about 4-5hrs a night of sleep, also have sleep apnea and got a cpap machine but find it claustrophobic and don't use it. I'm up for an hour or two and am ready to go back to sleep again, always tired amongst other things.

So went to bed at about 1am for a 6.30am alarm. My little girl played with my phone last night cause that's what they do. She found the alarm settings! She turned every alarm on between 4:30am and 6:30am and they started going off! At 4/:30 I could not see nor really understand what the Fark was going on!!! Might even have pressed snooze and copped a couple extra!!!

3 hours for me! Damn gunna be a long day.

When I'm on day shift I usually see 7-7.5 hours.
7.1-7.6 if the missus ain't up for it... :-P

But on back shifts it varies from 5-7..

After a week of back shift the Saturday usually gets wasted..

Wow hearing how your kids sleep makes me realise how lucky I am. I have a 3 and a 6 year old and the sleep through the night 90% of the time. My daughter is usually up at about 6.30. So I generally get 7 hr sleep. Unless there is motogp or f1 on at stupid o'clock.

What I wouldn't give for a solid 7hr sleep!
Only way i'd get anywhere near that is if I have an over the counter aid like "restavit", half of one and I sleep more but am groggy all day next day.

Sleep is a constant problem for me, seems that I can't get enough of it (and I'm having this problem since childhood).

I am a 'late night bird', I hate getting up early and I like to stay awake late in the night.

Average sleeping period for me is 5-6 hours, from 1-2am to 7am. And because of that I'm tired and irritated all day long. It's simply not enough for me. But when the weekend comes, oh boy :)

Any attemps on getting to bed earlier were complete failures (I'm sitting in bed and that's it, I can't fall asleep).

With my current job I have the same working hours for 11 years now (8-16) but still I can't get up in the morning (my body didn't get used to this program, so all those sayings that "you'll get used to it" is rubbish). My poor wife is getting up half an hour earlier for make-up & shit :) and at 7am she tries EVERY MORNING for about 15 minutes to get me out of the bed (I have an entire collection of alarm clocks but totally useless in my case).

So my dream job is a job that starts at least at 11am, no matter when it ends in the night :)
