Grinding noise

Hi all

Just wanted to know if anyone has had this before?
I have a gu 3.0 patrol 2008 model.
This happens every so often. No consistency when.

After backing up and driving forward there is a noise like gears grating. I then stop and a loud click happens and it is gone until the next time.

I thought it maybe partly engaging 4wd? No light indication etc?

Any thoughts / advice??

Probably front auto hubs playing up and engaging.

Many swap out the auto hubs for manuals, or there is a simple mod you can do which removes the auto part from your hub..

How much involved in removing auto hubs?

Yea have a look in the drive line section.

It's pretty easy if heard.
Never done it, always had manual hubs..

I have a 2011 st 3.0 and I had something similar and a similar thread.
I took mine to Nissan and they failed to find the problem. It's happened twice or three times and went to Nissan every time but nothing was ever found but the last time I told them to fully check the auto hubs and have not had that problem again.
