Powder Coater with acid dip (brisbane) ???

Hay guys, my custom rear tube bar is finally nearly ready for powder coating :bananadancing:




Anyway, its all taken soooooo long, most of the bar/tube now has some minor surface rust, I don't think sandblasting will get into all the nooks, but apparently, some powder coaters have a acid dip that will remove/clean up the steel before coating ?




Does anyone know a shop that has such a dip, and does a half decent job in Brisbane ?

Try Yates powdercoating at nudgee mate.

They say burning it off does a better job , if that's available up that way ,
mate just did all bar work and worked out cheaper

Don't forget to clear coat the lot when finished

Burning ! does rust burn ? ,interesting, how do they do that 3D ?


My bar and sliders are not cleared, so doubt ill be doing the rear to be honest, id concider clear if i was getting the whole lot re done, but rather have all bars the same at the moment.

sand blasting will allow the powder to stick better too

Blast all the way..

Along as air can get to the nooks then it'll get done..

As td mentioned paint will stick better to a blast.

I've never heard of a dip for rust, more oils, galv or old paints..

How about a textured finish like along the bottom of imported cars,
might take stone a bit more to chip if its a rubberized texture finish, just a thought

You mean like stone gaurd that you put on sills etc ?

Ive got that on my sills and all under the car, its great stuff, but powder coat will take a bit more scraping on rocks etc before exposing bare metal.


I want the same finish on the back bar to match my front bar and sliders, so normal black powder coat will be the go.
