Auto to manual conversion problems

Hey guys
My mate just converted his auto tb42 troll
To manual, but he said the starter motors not
Throwing out far enough to reach the flywheel
Is there something different between the manual and auto
TO Cause this or has he done something wrong?

Hi mate, I just put a second hand starter onto my tb42 auto. As far as I know the starter came off a manual (is that right Jonathan?).
It fits perfectly.
Is your mates starter in good working order? Could it be possible that the starter isn't throwing out properly?

I've just changed mine from auto. Did he removed the 2 plates off the crank where the seal is ?
