hello all. come back again to seek your help.:1087:im rebuilding a gq wagon with tb42e engine. done injectors and a big part of the suspension.
new bushes on drive train and chassis included chassis mounts, new gear box mounts and new tires shockies and springs. panhards done as well.
with all that, noticing no play in bearings, i can still feel vibrations when i drive, like everybump on the road ...
im running out of options. i think there is only 1 engine mount i havent changed so far...
that gq as much more new parts than the other patrol i have but still having the worst handling vibration wise.
i notice when i turn that i can feel a little grinding noise from the dif fthat would mean a dead bearing and gear moving sideways...
bearings on wheels dont make any noise and they''seem''tight when shaking the wheel. the car as 370.000 ks on it
there is definitly something wrong but gee cant point it out !!
would be much appreciated if somebody with similar problems found a solution..thanx for yur time guy larry:1087:

Checked your uni bearings? How does your pinion angle on the rear diff look? Gearbox output shaft and diff pinion should both be parallel to each other.

hi parsky . what i feel are vibrations form rolling i mean so i have play somewhere. there is only one engine mount i havent replaced yet, the one below inlet manifold battery pipes etc..a pain in the a$# to get at. was wondering if it could be that.
this morning, the car was running on idle and i put my hand on the front tyre and i could feel the vibrations coming from the engine running so i think i need to look around there....

That engine mount isnt as hard to change as you think :) do it all from underneath pretty much.

Have you had a look at your king pin bearings lately? Might be on their last legs.

thanks guys. yes im doing the driver side engine mount pain in the ass though as have to lift the engine quite high. probably going to end up removing the bracket from the block instead of trying to slide the bloody thing, with require a lot of clearance..
parksy, for the king pin, it might be that too. the thing is that i lifted the front diff and moved the wheel up and down and left to right and no movements detected....

When you replace the engine mount, it also helps to loosen the gearbox mounts. Gives you just that little bit extra.

hi parksy..yes im removing the bracket from the block anyway, easier i reckon cause its pulling a bit on radiator hoses. ill have a test drive to see if there is any difference.. i replaced the body mounts as well.
do yu know what torque to set them ?

one of my main concern is that i could feel the vibrations when putting my hand on the front tyre, car at idle...mean that the vibrations are escaping from the engine to the diff through a passage..hence when i think the engine mount is cactus or collapsed...

ok guys found the problem. replaced an engine mount but that wasnt it. when having a look underneath to try to get rid of the problem, i got a torch and inspected everything.there are not too many links fron diff to chassis so checked all that...and found that the panhard rod ahd slighly moved to one side, mean the bush slipped from one side.the bar was then rubbing slightly against the mount hence the vibrations no matter what.
removed the bloody thing and recentered the bush..problem solved
hope this can help thanks for your time larry
