I ask as mine are all cracked around the hub of which it bolts..

I'm thinking of just removing them??
Any reason why I shouldn't??

I've replaced mine with gu ones which have been reinforced around the hub. They've been put on for a reason is my reasoning, you do risk more trapped stones and the like without them.

they are mainly used to keep the dust off the wheels i thought and to help keep sticks etc out of the discs.

They stop stuff getting in, but once it's in they also stop it getting out.

I would keep them if you can Westy,

They perform a variety of tasks, but some of the important ones are, keeping brake heat away from components that dont need extra heat and fuel tanks - on the inside edge, assistance for getting the brakes up to operating temperature to get better pad bite, keeping brake dust off all the components except the rims ....

I removed all 4 from GQ but it did see a lot of serious off roading. It just made cleaning all the mud out of the rotors a lot easier.
