Hi all,
Very excited to be picking up a new GU patrol next week with a few extras.
Used to own a 2003 patrol 3.0 with all the mods (and original motor) but sold it at 320,000kms to down size to a diesel xtrail; wife and I decided the xtrail was a bit too limiting so back to the patrol we go.
Expect a few dumb questions about mods for the crd as it will be a new beast for me.
Located in Ipswich, qld if anyone wants to catch up for a beer or two.
Cheers

Welcome Paul. Good choice mate the Xtrail are not what they market at all. Welcome back.
Xtrail went ok for trips out west and on hard sand - soft stuff was a killer. The best thing it had going for it was the storage space; we cleaned up a roo which stopped us in our tracks in Mitchel last easter, friends came to save us in their 2011 prado and we had to leave some of our gear behind as it wouldnt fit :)

While I'm thinking about it can anyone confirm then following for a series 8 GU..
Oil - dello 400
Auto oil - transmax z
Gauges - pyro yes / boost via scan gauge?
Egr block - yes
Dawes - yes (what is the acceptable peak boost for the crd? 16psi?)
Needle valve/manual boost control - maybe (this gave me the best results on a di)
3 inch exhaust - OK (with cat)
Intercooler fan - no
Upgrade auto dropping resistor -yes (?)
That's all I can think of now from my di days, managed to delete all my old photos of the truck so can't quite remember what I did to it.
Cheers

Welcome back Paul.
I know how you feel about the x trail.. They are quite good but have short limits.
Friends of ours have one and it get em most places. Nothing hard, just more tour for them..
Hopefully one of the 3ltr boys will jump in with the list.
I'd personally run egt and a boost gauge, along side the scan gauge.
And no need for a cat on a turbo diesel..
Have a read threw the nads section (I'm sure your down with most of it being a previous 3ltr owner) but it's always updating and new products..
Anyway jump in and enjoy

Welcome mate, surely the best forum on the net. If you need it, you can get it, if you want to know it, just ask it.
If you want to find it, go to the search bar for a universe of information.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the greatest show on earth.
