Hey guys. New to forum and enjoying the reading so far. I'm after some thoughts and opinions please. I'm picking up my patrol next week when my ls1 conversion is finished. Just wondering from anyone who has done this similar mod, what sort of fuel consumption I'm likely to get. The car does have 35's and 4.6 ratios so it'll rev a little higher on the freeway I'm expecting.
With this mod I've also done a mild cam, 3 inch exhaust and extractors and 4 inch air box. Is there any other mods you would recommend for this motor/scenario.

Thanks in advance
Digger.

G'day digger, would you like to put up an intro first before asking question, something we ask of everybody, as you may get a few more answers.

Have you done an LS1 thread search you may find the answers your looking for in regards to mods.

Bet you can't wait to pick her up, and have your head thrust back into the headrest as you power off.

Have you had a V8 before this one.
As you may be in for a shock, especially with 35's and high diff ratios.
As for fuel consumption on a patrol, I'm not sure, but on my mates ute, with LS1, he get 20 plus litres per 100km.
He get 330km per tank on a Dunnydore ute.

Can't comment on the ls1 or a ls1 patrol we have the 6.0 litre 6 speed auto ve ss wagon and on city driving we get 15 litres per 100. On the highway we get 10-11 per 100km

Sorry guys, just wrote something in the introductions section. Yeah I'm expecting it will be a little thirsty to run but it's not a daily driver, so not to worried.
Thanks for feed back I'll try doin a search now.
Cheers

A few people say they get roughly around 16l/100km as i'm planning to do the same conversion but hope to get better than that. I also have a stato which is nothing special but with a few bolt on mods i've done the mrs gets around 7km/L in the city and about 11km/L on the hwy

Digging up an old post. I'm averaging about 21 litres per 100km which seems a bit high.

21 seems high,, I had a cast iron 350 chev with a 600 square bore it did have a 650 double pumper but that was overkill,
on the hwy I got 18ltr per 100k, thats sitting on 110 kph.
Tuned right I would think 15ltr per 100ks would be your hwy figures
after your right foot settles down after the conversion lol

Would not compare a LS1 street car with a 4x4 thats ridiculas IMO

My manual ve ss averages about 17. Problem with the GU, it's only a 4 speed, pulls 2400 revs at 110, ve ss about 1800. I need to drop the revs, so I'm thinking :

Change diff gears from 4.3 to 4.1 or 3.9 and/or 35's.

All depends on what its used for. Daily or weekend warrior.

Mostly as a daily, with the odd adventure; doesn't see much hwy k's.

I was averaging 23lt /100 with LS3 and big cam in GU wagon 5sp manual. I am now in the process of changing it over to a supercharged LS3 crate engine and am hoping for much better fuel economy as I feel the cam was the real issue.

Hmmm. Superchargerrrrrrrr!http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=64925&stc=1

The whine of a supercharger trumps the whistle of a turbo any day...

Seen the stickers.

Turbo nice but I'll rather be blown.:D

Having said that a lot of the 1000 hp + engines are twin Turbo.

You need boost straight off the pedal to spin the supercharger. You would have wasted your time supercharging the td.

Turbo tech has come along way in the last 10 years. Turbos only require exhaust gas to work not engine power like a supercharger.

The problem with turbos even on something like a td42 is people struggle to size them appropriately.

The obvious answer here mudski, is to supercharge your engine as well.

Lol. I was just speaking to Mark today about changing a few things too. He just shook his head. But if i had the coin, id love to whack a supercharger on a td. Regardless of what Mr.Party pooper says. Lol That would turn heads...

It would have to be a big ass top mount. Not a little side mounted unit.

Here is that whine. Even at low revs the charger sounds excellent.
