In need of help im looking at buying a patrol never owned a 4wd always been into burnouts and looking at getting a patrol to start getting out n about n fishing n living.
So my question is maybe more advice but here it is.
Im looking at a couple of patrols 1 is 2001 4.5 litre petrol ti wagon with 228,000 on the clock.
The other is a 2000 2.8 turbo deisel i think st wagon with 250,000 on clock both asking about $12000.00
Im selling my beloved HQ to buy a patrol an looking at spending about $12000 so really any advice would be great.

You really want a GU? The Petrols are gas guzzlers and the 2.8's are snails. The ZD30's are a Jack in the Box and the TD42's are the golden child of engines. But you pay top dollar for them. $12k will get you and awesome GQ with a nice TD42T in it with all the bolt on goods to boot. $12k for a GU won't...
Depends on what you want, in the Patrol....what goodies I mean too.

mate i have to go along with mudski, a gq 4.2 turbo diesel is the way to go unless you have heaps to spend on a gu 4.2tdi. There are plenty around just be patient and the right one will come along with plenty of fruit for a reasonable price.
